The St. Marys Area High School gymnastics team wrapped up their season over the weekend at the Pa. Classic Gymnastics State Championships, bringing home three individual state titles and 10 individual medals.

“Although all the teams at the state meet were gold qualifying teams, the steering committee broke the teams into two divisions: those teams scoring 140 and above and 13 7and below. St. Marys was the only silver team qualified into the state meet and had to go up against gold teams. It was a tough meet, but the SMA girls gave all they had and scored within the range they scored all season,” said St. Marys Area head coach Irene Holjencin. “The girls fared extremely well in the individual championships and were able to secure a total of 10 individual medals and two state champions on three events, which is pretty impressive for our area. We were all very proud of this year’s team and really could not have asked for anything more.”
