D9-AA wrestling champs crowned Saturday at Clarion University

The District 9 Class AA Individual Wrestling Tournament was held Friday and Saturday at Clarion University. Medals were presented to the top four individual place winners in each weight class.

The top four wrestlers in each weight class advance to the AA Northwest Regional, which will be held at Sharon High School on March 3-4.

107 pounds

In the finals at 107 pounds, top seeded Dalton Wenner of Cranberry pinned third seeded Andrew Coriaty of Oswayo Valley in 1:01.

In the third place bout, second seeded Cash Diehl of Clearfield on a 10-1 major decision over fifth seeded Michael Copello of Ridgway.

In the fifth place bout, fourth seeded Austin Gilliland of Curwensville

won a 5-2 decision over sixth seeded Gage Park of Brockway.

In the third place bout, fifth seeded Bryndin Chamberlain of Clearfield won a 7-4 decision over fourth seeded Logan Powell of Clarion.

In the fifth place bout, seventh seeded Alex McLaughlin of Cranberry was trailing sixth seeded Ian O’Shea of Port Allegany when McLaughlin came up with the pin to win by fall in 3:44.
