Local wrestlers compete at PJW Junior High State Championsh­ips

Several local wrestlers were in action at the PJW Junior High State Championsh­ips at 1st Summit Arena at Cambria County War Memorial in Johnstown over the weekend.

82 pounds

A pair of St. Marys wrestlers were in action in the 82 pound weight class.

Jaxon Seeders opened the competitio­n against Jefferson Morgan's Brayden Hanning in the round of 64. After going up 5-2 in the match, Seeders won by fall in 2:25. Advancing to the round of 32, Seeders lost a 15-1 major decision to Newport's Aiken Smith.

Seeders dropped into the consolatio­n bracket in the consi of 32 #2, where he won an 11-2 major decision over Port Allegany's Wyatt Smith. In the consi of 16 #1, Seeders lost a 6-0 decision to Moon's Karsten Kirchner.

Ryan Penn faced Chambersbu­rg's Isaac Brembley in the round of 64, with Brembley winning by an 8-0 major decision.

Dropping into the consolatio­n bracket, Penn had a bye in the consi of #2 #1 and then lost a 10-2 major decision to Franklin Regional's Keller Maryott in the consi of 32 #2.

124 pounds

Konnor Meyer was in action for St. Marys at 124 pounds, opening the competitio­n against Bell Vernon's Connor Hoffman in the round of 64. Hoffman won the match by an 11-0 major decision.

Meyer dropped into the consolatio­n bracket in the consi of 32 #1, where he edged Diocese of Erie's Kane Gregor in a 3-2 decision. Advancing to the consi of 32 #2, Meyer lost a 6-4 decision to Union City's William Cole.

132 pounds

Two wrestlers were in action for St. Marys in the 132 pound weight class.

Brody Wehler won a 7-0 decision over Freedom's Brayden Reynolds in the round of 64 and then lost a 5-0 decision to Easton's Evan Carss in the round of 32.

Wehler dropped into the consolatio­n bracket in the consi of 32 #2, where he won a 3-1 decision over Somerset's Moriek Jones. In the consi of 16 #1, Wehler won a 5-3 decision over Northern York's Landen Geidel. In the consi of 16 #2, Wehler lost a 4-0 decision to Greenville's Josh Perrino.

Jackson Wehler lost by technical fall, 17-2, in 3:28 to Ringgold's Christian Lowther in the round of 64.

Dropping into the consolatio­n bracket, Wehler lost a 3-0 decision to Laurel's Nathan Hill in the consi of 32 #1.

212 pounds

Jack Keebler of St. Marys was in action at 212 pounds, opening the competitio­n by pinning Harborcree­k's Brady Wassell in 2:49 in the round of 64. In the round of 32, Keebler was pinned by Armstrong's Taye Bradhsaw in 1:45.

Dropping into the consolatio­n bracket in the consi of 32 #2, Keebler and River Valley's Zeke Doak were tied at 4-all when Keebler won by fall in 3:27. In the consi of 16 #1, Keebler was pinned by Northern York's Will Metallo in 1:30.
