4 Dutchmen set to compete at PIAA Individual Wrestling Championsh­ips

The 2023 PIAA Individual Wrestling Championsh­ips get underway today in Hershey, and four Flying Dutchmen wrestlers are scheduled to be in action vying for state titles in their respective weight classes.

SMA’s Aiden Beimel, Ben Reynolds, Jaden Wehler, and Waylon Wehler all advanced to the competitio­n with top four finishes at the NW Regional in Sharon this past weekend.

114 pounds

Aiden Beimel will be in action for the Dutchmen in the 114 pound weight class.

Beimel has a bye in the round of 32 and will see his first action of the competitio­n against Susquenita’s Mason McLendon in the round of 16. The winner will advance to the quarterfin­als against the victor of a round of 16 matchup between Sullivan County’s Colton Wade and the winner of a round of 32 match between Jorden Williams of Chartiers-Houston and Brayden Hartranft of Berks Catholic.

139 pounds

Ben Reynolds will be in action for the Dutchmen in the 139 pound weight class.

Reynolds will face Littlestow­n’s Cameron Mingee in the round of 32, with the winner advancing to face Wyoming Area’s Anthony Evanitsky in the round of 16.

145 pounds

Jaden Wehler will be in action for the Dutchmen in the 145 pound weight class.

Wehler is slated to open the competitio­n against Biglervill­e’s Joey Ney in the round of 32. The winner will advance to face Penn Cambria’s Trent Hoover in the round of 16.

172 pounds

Waylon Wehler will be in action for the Dutchmen in the 172 pound weight class.

Wehler has a bye in the round of 32 and will see his first action in the round of 16 against Notre Dame – GP’s Holden Garcia. The winner will advance to the quarterfin­als against the victor of a round of 16 matchup between Bald Eagle Area’s Caleb Close and the winner of a round of 32 match between Belmont Charter’s Shamere Davenport and Lackawanna Trail’s Robbie Schneider.
