- By Becky Polaski Staff Writer

A trip to the state championship game is on the line tonight as the final four teams remaining in the PIAA 1A Boys’ Basketball Championship are set to face off in the semifinals. In the western half of the bracket, it is a certainty that a team from District 7 will be advancing to the state title game as District 7 champion Imani Christian Academy will take on District 7 runner-up Union in a rematch of the D7 championship game at 7:30 p.m. at North Allegheny High School in Wexford.

When the teams met a few weeks ago to decide the District 7 title, Imani rolled to a 64-41 win.

Imani reached today’s semifinal game by cruising to an 80-50 victory over District 10 champion Farrell on Friday night in the quarterfinals. Union also won big on Friday, defeating District 7 third place team Carlynton – who ended ECC’s season in the second round – by 20 points, 75-55.

The eastern semifinal will feature a matchup between a pair of district champions as District 3 champion Linville Hill – the lone undefeated team in the bracket – faces off against District 5 champion Berlin Brothersvalley at 7 p.m. at Chambersburg Area High School. Berlin enters the game with a pair of losses this season.

Linville Hill reached today’s semifinal with a 63-58 win over District 1 champion Chester Charter Academy on Friday in the quarterfinals. Berlin also played a team from District 1 on Friday, defeating District 1 runner-up Philmont Christian 6743.

The winners of tonight’s semifinals will play for the state title on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Giant Center in Hershey.
