JV Lady Dutch softball wins over JV Lady Crusaders
The Lady Dutch JVs traveled across town to play the Lady Crusaders JVs at Benzinger Park with the Lady Dutch coming away with a 13 to 1 score in 5 innings.
In the top of the first the Lady Dutch sent 11 batters to the plate, and they scored six runs on six hits, highlighted by a triple by Zoe Romanic and doubles by Sophie Surra, Samantha Kahnell and Addison Beimel. In the bottom of the first the Lady Crusaders went down in order.
In the top of the second the Lady Dutch started with a leadoff double by Samantha
Kahnell, but she was left stranded due to three flyouts. In the bottom of the second the Lady Crusaders started with a walk but a flyout and two strikeouts ended the inning.
In the top of the third the Lady Dutch scored five more runs on two walks and four hits, highlighted by Samantha Kahnell’s third double in the game and additional doubles by Sophie Surra and Addison Beimel. In the bottom of the third the Lady Crusaders scored their only run of the game on an error and a hit, with the inning ending on two ground outs and a strike out.
In the top of the fourth the Lady Dutch scored two more runs on two errors and a double by Zoe Romanic. In the bottom of the fourth the Lady Crusaders led off with a base hit, but the runner was left stranded by three flyouts.
In the top of the fifth the Lady Dutch went down in the order. In the bottom of the fifth the Lady Crusaders went down in order, with the game ending by the 10-run rule with the Lady Dutch winning 13 to 1.
Avery Eckels pitched a three-hitter and struck out seven batters.
