Municipalities seeking new storm sewer repair bids

ELK COUNTYTwo municipalities in Elk County are facing the same challenge when it comes to their summer repair projects; no bidders.

The Johnsonburg Borough Council is seeking a contractor to repair storm sewers in the West End of the borough in a much-needed project to repair and upgrade the facilities there. After advertising earlier in the year, the borough Councilmen were disappointed not to receive any bidders for the project. After discussion at a Borough Council meeting, it was decided to re-bid the project with a more extended end date for completion to try to work with local contractors’ already hectic job schedules this summer.

Sealed bids for the Community Development Block (CDBG) project will be received by the Elk County Planning Department Office, Elk County Courthouse Annex Building, 300 Center Street, P.O. Box 448, Ridgway, PA 15853, until 3:30 p.m. June 5.

The project will be for storm sewer replacement in the West End Area of the borough. All bids will be held until the June 6, Commissioner’s Meeting at 10 a.m., when all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Copies of drawings, specifications, and bid forms may be obtained from the office of ARS Engineering Services, PO Box 202, Johnsonburg, PA 15845. Addenda, if any, will be issued to only those whose names and addresses are on record as having obtained a complete set of bid documents. The bidding and contract documents may also be examined at the Johnsonburg Borough Building, 100 Main Street, Johnsonburg, PA 15845, and the Elk County Planning Department, 300 Center Street, Ridgway, PA 15853.

Ridgway Township also needs bidders for their Servidea storm sewer following the last supervisors’ meeting on Tuesday. Much like Johnsonburg, Ridgway Township has decided to bid on the project again with a more extended end date of October 1. Information about this project including bidding and contract documents, may be viewed at the Ridgway Township Municipal Authority building located at 1537A Montmorenci Road in Ridgway, PA 15853, or call (814) 773-5625 during regular business hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Both municipalities are willing to work with contractors’ busy schedules through the summer to complete the projects before winter arrives, so interested contractors are encouraged to contact the borough of Johnsonburg and Ridgway Township for more information.
