Lady Dutch face Blackhawk tonight in PIAA 4A second round
Second round action in the PIAA 4A girls’ basketball championship gets underway tonight across the state, and the District 9 champion St. Marys Area Lady Dutch will be facing off against District 7 runner-up Blackhawk at 7 p.m. at Keystone High School.
St. Marys Area enters the game with a record of 22-5. Blackhawk is 23-3.
The Lady Dutch faced District 7 fifth place team Highlands in the first round on Saturday, winning 40-39. Blackhawk played District 10 third place team Harbor Creek on Saturday, winning 54-38.
The winner of tonight’s game will advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday against the winner of tonight’s game between District 7 fourth place team Laurel Highlands (21-4) and District 10 champion Fairview (21-5), which is being played at 6:30 p.m. at North Allegheny High School.
In other games in the bottom half of the bracket tonight, District 3 champion Wyomissing (26-0) will play District 12 third place team Neumann Goretti (19-6) at 6 p.m. at Pottstown High School, and District 10 runner-up Warren (215) will play District 7 champion North Catholic (18-7) at 5:30 p.m. at PennWest Edinboro.
In the top half of the bracket, District 12 champion Universal Audenried (23-5) will play District 2 runnerup Valley View (14-12) at 6 p.m. at Easton Middle School, District 3 runner-up Delone Catholic (22-1) will play District 11 champion Allentown C C (18-9) at 7 p.m. at Warwick High
School, District 2 champion Scranton Prep (205) will play District 1 champion Villa Joseph Marie (16-9) at 7:30 p.m. at Easton Middle School, and District 12 runner-up Nazareth Academy (15-11) will play District 4 champion Central Columbia (26-2) at 6 p.m. at Catasauqua High School.
The winners will advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday.
Semifinals will be played on Tuesday, March 19, and the championship game will be played at noon on Saturday, March 23 at the Giant Center in Hershey.
