SMA students compete at Husky Dog Pound Competition
In a display of ingenuity and determination, students from St. Marys Area High School and St. Marys Area Middle School showcased their exceptional talents at the recent Husky Dog Pound Competition held at Bloomsburg University. Their outstanding performance has garnered praise and admiration, affirming their status as formidable competitors in the entrepreneurial arena.
With 200 teams competing in this year’s “Shark Tank-like” event, the three Dutch teams were all able to place in the top 20. Among the standout achievers were high school students Emma
Garstka, Mia Piccirillo, Alexa Asti, and Paige Bauer, who secured an impressive 18th place. Additionally from high school, Nick Swanson distinguished himself with a remarkable 12th place finish, demonstrating his exceptional skills and dedication to excellence.
Not to be outdone, the middle school team comprising JJ Hanslovan, Peyton Wendel, Luke Vollmer, and Mack Vollmer, made their mark by clinching the 20th spot, emerging as the second highestplacing middle school team in the competition. Their achievement underscores the depth of talent and potential within Dutch Nation, setting a high standard for future generations of aspiring entrepreneurs.
The Husky Dog Pound Competition provided a platform for students to showcase their creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit. From concept development to pitch presentations, participants demonstrated their ability to think outside the box and transform ideas into viable business ventures.
