St. Marys Area track and field team split with Punxsy

The St. Marys Area High School track and field teams played host to squads from Punxsutawney on Tuesday afternoon with the Lady Dutch defeating the Lady Chucks 79-70 and the Chucks taking home a 106-44 win over the Flying Dutchmen.

The Lady Dutch had several individual event winners in the girls’ meet.

Adriana Buck won the 100 meter dash in 13.41 seconds and teammate Zahra Baluch was second in 13.57 seconds. The roles were reversed in the 200 meter dash as Baluch took the win in 27.91 seconds and Buck was the runner-up in 28.87 seconds.

Buck also won the high jump with a jump of 4’2”.

Kelsie Bellotti won the 1600 meter run in 5:55.67 and teammate Megan Shine was the runner-up in 6:08.13.

Maura Caskey won the 300 meter hurdles in 54.53 seconds.

Gabby Pistner won the 3200 meter run in 16:23.69, Lucia Hayes was the runner-up in 16:24.44, Mary Defilippi took third in 16:24.94, and Raechel Braun was fourth in 16:25.44.

Emma Garstka won the long jump with a jump of 14’3”.

Rylee Nicklas won shot put with a throw of 34’5.5”.

The Lady Dutch also edged the Lady Chucks in the 4x100 relay. St. Marys had a winning time of 52.57 seconds, and Punxsutawney was the runner-up in 53.57 seconds.

The Flying Dutchmen

only had two individual event winners in the boys’ meet.

Jacob Nedimyer won the 800 meter run in a time of 2:06.39, and his teammate Bandon Henry was second in 2:08.06.

Andew Field won the long jump with a jump of 20’8”.

St. Marys also defeated Punxsutawney in two of the three relays.

The Flying Dutchmen won the 4x100 relay in a tie of 45.94. The team from Punxsutawney was disqualified. St. Marys Area also won the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:39.78.

Next up for the SMA squads will be the TSTCA Invite at West Mifflin Area High School on Saturday.
