Horton Township adopts outdoor burn ban ordinance
At Wednesday’s April 10, 2024, meeting, Horton Township Supervisors adopt a temporary Burn Ban Ordinance #63 to be effective immediately. According to Horton Township Volunteer Fire Chief, Chad Quaglianone, the ban would be for outdoor burning when the weather presented with extreme dry spells, high temperatures and high winds. The call to ban outdoor fires would come from the Horton Township Volunteer Fire Department (HTVFD) Chief. At this time, if these weather conditions occur, a “Sandwich Board” announcing no outdoor burning would be placed in a visible space at the township building.
The regular meeting of the Horton Township Supervisors was called to order at 6 p.m. with all three supervisors present along with Solicitor, Tom Beveridge. Fire Chief Chad Quaglianone and one township tax payer.
The minutes of the
March 16, 2024 meeting, the Treasurer’s Report and bills presented for payment were all approved.
Under Old Business: The supervisors continue to review a draft for solar panels and approved to look into this issue further.
Under New Business: Two township taxpayers have requested subdivisions within the township. The supervisors will look into their requests. The Township has received $6000 from the Elk County Commissioners County Fuels Fund.
Roadmaster Report: The road crew continues to work on equipment, fill pot holes and cleaning and sweeping the roads.
HVFD report: Fire Chief Quaglianone reports the Department responded to 20 calls in the month of March.
With no further business the meeting adjourned at 7 p.m.. The next regular meeting of the Horton Township is scheduled for May 8, 2024 at 6 p.m. at the Township Building.
