Tidy Return Day at the Elk County Courthouse

RIDGWAY- Monday’s Return Day at the Elk County Courthouse saw Terry Markuske, 60, of the Bronx, New York plead guilty to forgery, a second degree felony.

Markuske, who had already been in the Elk County Prison for 97 days, issued a forged check at Farmers National Bank in Ridgway. This check did not get cashed as it was flagged as it came through.

Upon her being arrested, it was discovered Markuske is also wanted in six different counties in the state and on a federal level.

Markuske was sentenced and credited for time served in the prison for 97 days and released so she could address other legal issues she currently faces.

Olivia Oknefski, 32, of Ridgway, pled guilty to burglary, a second degree felony, and has to pay $600 in restitutio­n owed to CAPSEA (Citizens, Against, Physical, Sexual, and Emotional Abuse).

Oknefski received credit for time served in the Elk County Prison from August 9, 2023 to September 22, 2023 and was placed on electric home monitoring for 135 days.

Athena Copella, 38, of St. Marys pleaded guilty to two summary offenses of retail theft and paid $1,203.65 in restitutio­n to Walmart prior to the entry of the plea.

Brandon Quail, 33, of Ridgway, pleaded guilty to simple assault, a second degree misdemeano­r. He was credited for time served in the Elk County Prison from December 18, 2023 to Monday, April 15 plus one day and is now on county parole.

Quail is ordered to pay $70 to the victim and is to have no contact with the individual.

Michael Makinen, 41, of Ridgway, pleaded guilty to criminal trespass, a second degree felony. He was sentenced and credited for time served in the Elk County Prison for 91 days and was ordered to pay $1,376 in restitutio­n and is now currently paroled.

The” final call” return day is slated for May 6 at the Elk County Courthouse.
