Linda Grady, 74, died peacefully after a lengthy illness on March 17, 2024.

Linda was born March 31, 1949 to Frederick and Bernice Lechien of St. Marys, PA. She graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvan­ia with a B.S and received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Atlanta University. Linda’s entire career was spent helping others. As a clinical social worker her counseling fields included family counseling, individual counseling and most special to her, counseling children. She was especially happy working with children at Orchard Place in Des Moines.

Linda loved music and loved to sing. She sang in the Drake Community Chorus in Des Moines. Her favorite music was classical, jazz and Motown. Towards the end of her life, she was especially happy when a music therapist or counselor at Waverly on Grand Hospice would come and sing to her.

Linda also loved traveling. In one of her travels, she and several others had a private audience with Pope John Paul II. She loved the Oregon coast and the Pacific Coast

Highway. One of her favorite things to do was walking at Grays Lake in Des Moines.

Her nephews and nieces nicknamed her “Aunt Lipstick” because she was never without her lipstick and used it often.

Linda is survived by her husband, Hugh; sisters, Mary Louise Imbragugli­o of Hammond, LA and Lorri Bish of Brockport, PA; brother, Charles Lechien of White Bluff,TN; stepson, Chris Grady of Camas, WA; stepdaught­er, Kathleen Grady of Sherwod, OR; step grandchild­ren, Dillon Grady and Finley Grady; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Fred Lechien

Memorial services will be private with family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Orchard Place.
