SMA’s Andrew Field breaks school record in long jump

The St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen track and field team recorded big wins over ECC and DCC on Tuesday afternoon at home at Dutch Country Stadium, and the meet also featured a record-breaking performanc­e by Andrew Field, who took down the boys’ long jump record that had stood since 1997.

Field had a winning jump of 21’4”. The previous record of 21’2.75” was set by Mike Scanish in 1997.

As a team, the Dutchmen defeated ECC 123-25 and DCC 140-6. ECC defeated DCC 81-48.

The Dutchmen dominated on the track, with Clay Solada winning the 110 meter hurdles in 19.38 seconds, Ben Reynolds winning the 100 meter dash in 11.25 seconds and the 200 meter dash in 23.34 seconds, Jacob Nedimyer winning the 1600 meter run in 4:53.22, Talon Thomas winning the 400 meter dash in 58.34 seconds, Angelo Catalone winning the 800 meter run in 2:13.00, and Brandon Henry winning the 3200 meter run in 10:43.60.

St. Marys Area won the 4x100 meter relay in 45.25 seconds, the 4x400 meter relay in 3:43.07, and the 4x800 meter relay in 8:41.19.

In the field events, Devlin Caskey won the high jump, clearing a height of 5’8”, and the triple jump with a jump of 37’3”. Jason McAnany won the pole vault, clearing 11’. Field had his record-setting performanc­e in the long jump with a jump of 21’4”. Tyler Sheeley won discus with a throw of 113’8”, and Landon Rippy won javelin with a throw of 122’2”.

For the Crusaders, Bobby Urmann won the 300 meter hurdles in 46.45 seconds, and Alex Gahr won shot put with a throw of 38’9”.
