Virginia man gets life for Christmas slaying
A Virginia man was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison Thursday for a fatal stabbing on Christmas Day 2010.
Prosecutors said Duane Haley, 48, and his girlfriend, Judy Britton, killed Hamadi Swei, 51, as part of a robbery plot.
His body was found at his apartment in the 3100 block of West Normandale Street in Fort Worth about a month after he was killed.
Haley and Britton left Texas after the crime was discovered but were captured in Virginia.
Britton, who had worked with Swei at a day labor facility in Fort Worth, remains in the Tarrant County Jail awaiting a capital murder trial.
