City receives grant to renovate Northfield Park
North Richland Hills received a $500,000 grant from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Commission for the Northfield Park renovation project. The grant will help fund redevelopment and improvement of the park’s aging facilities, including lighted softball fields, sand volleyball courts, lighted tennis courts, playground, basketball court, pavilion, trails, landscaping, picnic tables and benches, as well as rainwater collection system and drip irrigation.
Opened in 1981, Northfield Park, 7804 Davis Blvd., is one of the city’s oldest parks. The Parks & Recreation Department sought public input last year regarding improvements to the 34-acre park, including an online survey and community meetings. Renovation of the park is expected to begin this fall. The park will be closed during construction, which should take one year.
