- Claire Z. Cardona

A Highland Village student was taken into custody Monday after posting a threatening photo on Snapchat, police said.

Shortly before 6 p.m., Highland Village police received a report that a student at a local school posted what was believed to be a threatening comment with what appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol on Snapchat, police said.

Officers went to the student's home and found an airsoft 9 mm replica that appeared to match the one in the photo.

The student will be transferred to Denton County Juvenile Detention.
