Burglar eats ice cream, steals possessions in 2 homes

- Marc Ramírez

Dallas police are hoping someone can help identify a suspect who broke into a pair of homes in the M Streets area Jan. 30 and helped himself to ice cream in addition to a collection of other items.

In one, which occurred sometime between 7 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., the burglar forced open a rear door of a home in the 6100 block of Kenwood Avenue, taking several items. Surveillance video from the area shows a man riding a yellow rental bicycle into the victim’s yard and leaving minutes later with a bag of stuff.

In the other, which occurred between 11:55 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., the burglar broke into a residence in the 5800 block of Ellsworth, again through a rear door, and left with several items — but not before raiding the freezer and gobbling up his unjust desserts.

The burglar, caught on security video inside and outside the residence, is described as a white male between 40 and 45 years old with brown hair and a medium build. He was wearing a mesh ball cap fronted with the words “On The Fly.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dallas Police Detective Scott Hopkins at the Central Investigative Unit at 214-670-5760 or scott. hopkins@dpd.dallascity
