Eagle Scout is the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America and the Gold Award is the highest honor given to the Girl Scouts of the United States. Both of these awards require scouts to complete community service projects and other requiremen­ts. These youths have earned the honor.

Amina Aziz

Troop: Girl Scout Juliette School: Plano East Senior High School Parents: Pervez and Akila Aziz of Dallas Project: Amina planned and implemente­d a Teen Board group. The Teen Board achieved goals by speaking at different houses of worship in Richardson to create awareness and begin a dialogue among the various religions.

Haley Barr

Troop: 973 School: Marcus High School Parents: Shawn and Misty Barr of Argyle Project: Haley, with the help of volunteers, worked with Journey to Dream to create an awareness campaign combined with quilting workshops. Haley and her volunteers taught groups all over Denton County to quilt.

Shreya Battu

Troop: 1625 School: Plano East Senior High School Parents: Jagan Battu and Kavitha Kantala of Allen Project: Shreya partnered with an organizati­on, ThisSideUp Family Center. She created a monthly interactiv­e event at the facility to help children strengthen their family connection­s and communicat­ion skills.

David Fulkerson

Troop: 18 School: Graduated from Jesuit College preparator­y High School of Dallas in 2017; attending Oklahoma State University Parents: Erik and Margaret Fulkerson of Dallas Project: David created a contemplat­ive garden at Holy Trinity Seminary.

Gordan Montgomery

Troop: 730 School: Graduated from Trinity Christian Academy in 2017; attending Texas Tech University Parents: Sally and Will Montgomery of Dallas Project: Gordan designed and landscaped an area surroundin­g a bench at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Timothy E. Murphy

Troop: 1188 School: Graduated from Rowlett High in 2017; attending Eastfield College Parents: Brian and Shari Murphy of Rowlett Project: Timothy designed and built two radio-controlled drone courses for the science department at Schrade Middle School.
