Re­spect’s the bot­tom line

Re: “Mccon­nell looks for cash in the wrong places,” by Scott Burns, Oct. 21 Busi­ness col­umn.

Thank heav­ens for Burns! He re­minds me of peo­ple who read the Bible and can quote from it chap­ter and verse. Burns goes to the gov­ern­ment fi­nan­cial “bible” and can quote chap­ter and verse to sup­port his com­ments. Burns says — to para­phrase — that both par­ties are ly­ing through their teeth.

Well, many do say any­thing to get elected and make prom­ise af­ter prom­ise un­til they get to Wash­ing­ton. I won­der how many in Congress re­ally know and un­der­stand ex­actly what they are vot­ing on? How many ac­tu­ally read the en­tire Af­ford­able Care Act and un­der­stand it?

In all hon­esty, I will say this is a heavy bur­den on our elected rep­re­sen­ta­tives and re­gard­less of party, they de­serve our re­spect as well as re­spect­ing each other. Let’s all be cour­te­ous and civil. Bar­bara Wiskow, Dal­las
