Too extreme for N. Texans

Re: “Patrick: Bathroom fight is ‘settled’ and ‘we won’ — Comment comes even though controversial bill died,” Thursday news story.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick must have a very different definition of winning than I do. Not only did the bathroom bill not even come up for a vote in the Texas House last term, but the following representatives or candidates who supported Patrick’s extremist bathroom bill — Matt Rinaldi, Don Huffines, Lisa Luby Ryan, Konni Burton and Ron Simmons — all lost in the Nov. 6 general election.

Patrick and his cohort are proving that their brand of social conservatism is far too extreme for North Texans. By the time the next election cycle rolls around, it may prove itself to be too extreme for all Texans. Howard Klion, Dallas
