Vanessa Peters on the Kessler Green

- Kelly Dearmore

For 15 years, globe-trotting Dallas musician Vanessa Peters has released fantastic folk-flavored storytelling tunes. Given the excellent quality of her catalog, it’s no shock that her latest effort follows suit. The first couple of songs Peters has released from her upcoming Idol Records LP, Modern Age, show her testing the limits of her amp’s volume knobs. With a catchy, urgent power-pop vibe, both “Crazymaker” and the album’s title track come from an artist confident in not only what she has to say, but how she wants to say it. See her perform next weekend as part of the Kessler Theater’s Spring on the Green outdoor series.

■ April 24 at 7 p.m. on the Kessler Green (outdoors, behind the theater), 1230 W. Davis St., Dallas. Free general admission, but space is limited; reserved tables seat up to six for $99.
