Hit-run driver sought in pedestrian’s death

- Kelli Smith

A 43-year-old pedestrian died Sunday in Mesquite after he was struck by three cars, one of which then drove away, police said.

Thomas Dale was struck twice about 9:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 80 near Big Town Boulevard, police said. A 2017 Freightliner Box Truck and a 2019 Hyundai Accent struck Dale, who police said was already lying in the roadway.

Investigators determined he had been struck earlier by an unknown car, which did not remain at the scene. The other two drivers stopped after their cars hit Dale.

“We are trying to locate the first vehicle that actually struck him,” police Lt. Stephen Biggs said.

Investigators ask anyone with information to call 972-285-6636.
