- Catherine Marfin

A man in his late 80s was found dead Friday after officials extinguished a fire at a South Dallas home.

Dallas-fire Rescue responded just after 10 a.m. to a 911 call about the fire in the 3200 block of Trezevant Street, near Al Lipscomb Way and Fair Park, spokesman Jason Evans said.

Fire was coming from a back bedroom of the onestory wood-frame house when firefighters arrived, Evans said.

He said the fire was extinguished in about a half hour.

The victim, who hadn’t been identified, was found after the fire was out, Evans said. The medical examiner’s office had not determined the cause of death, he said.

The man was the only person inside when the fire broke out but didn’t live alone, Evans said.

Investigators said the fire began in a back bedrooms but that its exact cause had not yet been determined.
