Transfer gives Horns much-needed forward
Texas men’s basketball coach Chris Beard landed yet another transfer Friday, this time successfully recruiting Creighton junior forward Christian Bishop.
Bishop did not tweet a statement like other transfers have — junior forward Timmy Allen and freshman guard Devin Askew — but instead tweeted a graphic of himself in a Longhorns uniform with the caption “#hookem.”
The 6-7 forward averaged 11 points and 6.4 rebounds per game on 68.1% shooting last season with the Blue Jays, both career highs.
Bishop’s signing gives Beard a much-needed forward going into next season with sophomore Kai Jones off to the NBA draft and Greg Brown expected to declare as well. He’ll be paired in 2021 with redshirt sophomore forward Brock Cunningham in the frontcourt and guards Andrew Jones and Jase Febres, both of whom announced this week they will return to Austin.
