LIVE LUNCH BREAK FLASHBACK - THE SUE MENHART BAND
For the second year in a row, The Sue Menhart Band performed a SRO show in the Hygienic Art Park for The Day's "Live Lunch Break" concert series. The long-running, estimably great blues-rock group, anchored by the monster vocals and songwriting prowess of Menhart, offered a dozen tunes from their catalog — and included a few songs from an upcoming album. In conversation between sets, Menhart divulged she's authored a memoir on "How not to succeed in the music business" — a funny and self-deprecating observation that's also not remotely accurate. Success is a relative term and, in the arts, often based on luck. The collective happiness on the faces of the Lunch Break crowd were more than indicative of the success earned by Menhart and her excellent band — bassist Dave Foret, drummer Kevin Clark and guitarist Don Bergeron. As always, we archive our "Lunch Break" shows and all of them are available for perusal at theday.com.
