Eighty-nine youth sailors compete at Niantic Bay YC
East Lyme— Eighty-nine competitors in 64 boats gathered Thursday for the USA Junior Olympic Sailing Festival/ Larry White Junior Regatta at Niantic Bay Yacht Club.
David and Jonathan Viens of the Niantic Bay Sailing Academy finished first in the Blue Jay Fleet, while Matthew Burnham and Taro Sochi of Fishers Island won the Club 420 division. Tristan Chang of Watch Hill was the overall winner of the Optimist division, as well as the first-place finisher in the Optimist Blue Fleet. Libby Redmond of the NBSA was first in the Red Fleet, Harvey DeMovick of Watch Hill won the White Fleet and Simon Weekes of Sachems Head was the Green Fleet champ.
