PAVEMENT REPAIRS SLATED IN EAST LYME FOR LOVERS LANE
East Lyme — The town’s Public Works Department plans to resurface Lovers Lane beginning Wednesday, weather permitting.
The work along the entire length of Lovers Lane, from its intersection with Dean Road to Boston Post Road, should be completed in two work days. The work is expected to start on the Boston Post Road side of Lovers Lane on Wednesday morning.
The town will use a Cold in Place Recycling process to recycle and rehabilitate the pavement, according to the town’s website. The recycling equipment will mill the existing pavement and rejuvenate it with asphalt emulsion while laying the material back down onto the road surface.
This week’s work will create one-way alternating traffic or close Lovers Lane at the moving work zone. Temporary traffic delays are expected. Access will be permitted to residents, mail carriers and delivery trucks. However, a detour around Route 1 and Dean Road may be required for vehicles looking to cut through the area. Traffic patterns will be established by the contractor, The Gorman Group of Albany, N.Y., and managed by the town’s highway department.
The department has chosen this time of year so that school buses would not be affected during the school year, according to the news release.
Approximately three to four weeks later, a final paved travel surface will be applied.
