Glastonbur­y — Joseph Watson Clemens Sr., 83, of South Glastonbur­y, beloved husband of Lottie (Rand) Clemens, died Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, at Glastonbur­y Health Care.

Born on March 11, 1932, to the late Joseph Lewis and Bertha Idella (Daniels) Clemens in South Glastonbur­y, he was a lifelong resident.

Besides his wife, Joe is survived by his children, Joseph W. Clemens Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Marlboroug­h, Lori Davis and her husband, Filmore, of Glastonbur­y, Robin Zimmerman and her husband, Marc, of Newington; his grandchild­ren, Amanda, Courtny, Alicia, Joseph, Brenda, Jeffrey, Brian and Lily; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predecease­d by his twin sister, Beverly Cowles, his sister, Alma Martin; and his brother, Christophe­r Clemens. Joe was an avid fisherman, spending many mornings on Tryon Street fishing for pike in the Connecticu­t River. He and his brother Chris spent most weekends fishing out on the ocean. Joe enjoyed spending time with his wife of 59 years and his family at summer picnics and celebratin­g birthdays and holidays. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, in the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbur­y. Burial will follow in Old Church Cemetery, Glastonbur­y. Friends may call on Friday prior to the service starting at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
