Ryan Callahan scored twice and Steven Stamkos converted a penalty shot to help Tampa Bay Lbeat Boston on Sunday night for its sixth straight win. Ben Bishop stopped 32 shots for the Lightning and Alex Killorn also scored. Stamkos also had an assist and has scored in all six games of the winning streak. Tuukka Rask made 26 saves for Boston, which had won two in a row. Kevan Miller scored the Bruins' only goal. In addition to the penalty shot awarded midway through the second, the Lightning had one power play in each of the first two periods. They scored on each, needing just 31 seconds the first time and 6 the next. The Bruins entered the night tied for second in the Atlantic Division with Tampa Bay at 74 points. They were 0 for 6 on the power play. Miller gave Boston a 1-0 lead 6 minutes into the game, but the Lightning tied it after Zac Rinaldo was sent off for hitting Cedric Paquette in the head against the boards. Thirty-one seconds into the power play, Killorn made it 1-1. Later in the first, the Lightning took a 2-1 lead when Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid fell at the blue line, sending Callahan and Killorn free on a 2-on-0. It stayed that way until Patrice Bergeron was penalized for interfering with the goalie with 8 minutes gone in the second. The Lightning won the faceoff and slid it over to Stamkos, whose shot was tipped past Rask by Callahan. Two minutes later, Stamkos broke free before he cut in front of Brad Marchand and was taken down in front of the crease. The penalty shot made it 4-1. The loss sent the Bruins into the trade deadline wondering what to do with Loui Eriksson. Contract talks with the Swedish forward have stalled, and Boston general manager Don Sweeney confirmed before the game that Eriksson has been the subject of trade talks.

Notes Hurricanes trade Staal to Rangers

Eric Staal gets to play with another brother, and the New York Rangers are loading up for the playoffs. The Rangers acquired Carolina's captain and the face of the Hurricanes franchise on Sunday. In exchange for Staal, the Rangers sent center Aleksi Saarela, who is currently playing in his native Finland, to Carolina along with New York's second-round picks in each of the next two drafts. Rangers general manager Jeff Gorton said the Hurricanes retained a portion of Staal's $8.25 million cap hit, and New York has enough financial flexibility to add another "small-salary player if we wanted to." The Rangers trail first-place Washington by 16 points in the Metropolitan Division standings. "We felt like he was one of the best, if not the best, player available on the market to give us what we're looking for in our top nine," Gorton said. "And that's why we made the move."
