Will acupuncture help me?

- By Megan Marco, Doctor of Acupuncture, Licensed Acupuncturist

Will acupuncture help me? What does acupuncture treat? How does acupuncture work? These are some of the most popular questions that I am asked.

Yes, acupuncture will help you. Whether you have severe health conditions or none at all, Acupuncture helps everybody. How does it do this? People often drift off into a deeply relaxing nap so that their body is able to improve circulation, decrease inflammation, relieve pain, support the immune system, and heal itself.

There are many different types of acupuncture, and different acupuncturists have different techniques. My specialty is that I am gentle, and my treatments are incredibly relaxing. My favorite technique is the Balance Method created by Dr. Richard Tan. With this technique, we do not put any points in the areas of disease or pain. We strategically choose points that send a signal to your brain and down to the area of disease or pain to “send the cleanup crews” to this area. The Balance Method is incredibly effective and heals. I have seen miraculous things in my sixteen years of practice.

What does acupuncture treat? • Pain relief: headaches, back pain, injuries, arthritis • Gynecology: PMS, fertility, menopause • Anxiety and depression: anger, sadness, fear, worry • Respiratory concerns: allergies, asthma, sinus infections • Digestive problems: ulcers, reflux, constipation, IBS, GERD • Cardiovascular: hypertension • Neurological conditions: migraines, Parkinson’s disease • Autoimmune: chronic fatigue, MS, Lupus, arthritis • Addictions • Eye disorders: poor vision, eye strain • Muscular disorders: injuries, sprains, weakness • Behavioral issues: ADD, ADHD, memory, concentration • Aging: wrinkles, sagging, scars • Immune System: colds, flu, cancer
