Falcons remain perfect
East Lyme — Caroline Taber pitched a two-hit shutout as the second-ranked Fitch High School softball team remained undefeated with a 9-0 win over East Lyme in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division game Friday.
Jayden Delaporta, Allison Georgetti, Jonell Hobert and Nalissa Amar had two hits each for the Falcons (100, 4-0), who strung together a combined 10 hits in the fourth and fifth innings to score four runs in each. East Lyme is 8-2, 2-2. In other games: • Shea Gendron went 4-for- 4 with a two-run home run and No. 10 Norwich Free Academy blanked Ledyard 9-0 in the ECC Large Division. Hailee Schrader, Sara Cote and winning pitcher Beth Fleming had two hits apiece for NFA (10-1, 4-0). Ledyard is 3-5, 0-4.
• Claire Hurley and Mackenzie Merriman had two hits, three runs scored and two stolen bases apiece as Waterford defeated Killingly 13- 4 in the ECC Medium Division. Jill Sykora, Shea Spellman and Baylee Brackett had two hits apiece for the Lancers (7-3, 5-0).
• Mallory Kane had four hits and Abby Flakus homered as Stonington defeated Montville 21-5 in the ECC Medium Division. Erin Craig had three hits for the Bears ( 9-2, 5- 0). Montville is 4-7, 1-4.
• Emily Nelson tripled, Brianna Beverly tripled and Sophie Nelson homered to start the game, giving St. Bernard a three-run lead, but the Saints fell to Tourtellotte 16-8 in the ECC Small Division after pitcher Sophie Nelson was injured by a comebacker to the mound in the second inning. Emily Nelson and Beverly each had two hits for St. Bernard (1-7, 1-3).
• Amber Maher had three hits and drove in three runs as Grasso Tech beat Two Rivers 18-9 in a Constitution State Conference game on Thursday. Sophia Green singled, homered and drove in four runs and Tabitha Ford and Elisa Lebron drove in two runs each for Grasso.
