GRASSROOTS EAST TO HOLD CANDIDATE FORUM IN EAST LYME
Grassroots East has announced that it will hold a forum on Monday in East Lyme for the delegates to the May 9 state convention to meet federal candidates for office.
The event will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Flanders Fish Market at 22 Chesterfield Road.
Daria Novak, the president of the Institute for American Politics and co-host of the “American Political Zone” television show, and Ann Brookes, a local attorney and member of the Westbrook Republican Town Committee, are seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Congress in the 2nd District.
August Wolf, a businessman and former Olympic athlete; Jack Orchulli, the co-founder of Michael Kors who also ran for the Senate in 2004; and Dan Carter, state representative for Bethel, Danbury, Newtown and Redding, are seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate to run against Sen. Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat.
There is no charge for the event, but seating is limited. The event will start with a “meet and greet” period at 6:30 p.m. This will be followed with a program at 7 p.m. consisting of short speeches by each candidate and then a question-and-answer session.
Another forum was held at Vernon Town Hall on April 28.
