Old Lyme — Yvonne Mae Kenny, 75, of Middletown, and formerly of Old Lyme, passed away peacefully after a short illness on May 18, 2016, at Middlesex Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Warren Kenny.

Yvonne was born on Dec. 5, 1940, in New London, to the late George and Irene (Daniels) Stone. Yvonne grew up on Rogers Lake in Old Lyme and loved the water. She spent many days swimming, boating and fishing. Yvonne was a champion bowler and was a member of many leagues and treasured all her awards.

She worked for First National Stores in Old Saybrook and retired from the A&P Store in Old Lyme after 20 years employment as a cashier. In her retirement, she lived at One MacDonough Place in Middletown where she found a new family and made many new friends including her closest friend, Susan Bagley. She was popular due to her quick wit, great personalit­y and contagious smile. She will be missed by her many friends and neighbors.

She is survived her nephews and niece, Phil (Maria) Appell of Middletown, Nancy (Mark) Strempel of Lyme, and Tim (Janine) Appell of Sandpoint, Idaho.

Yvonne was predecease­d by her son, Brett McKenna, and her aunt, Doris “Bobbie” Appell.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 27, at the family plot at Riverside Cemetery, Sheffield Street, Old Saybrook.
