Fitch boys surprise Stonington

Falcons score three goals in last 20 minutes to pull out a 3-2 victory

Groton — Fitch High School scored three goals in the final 20 minutes, including the game-winner from Keshav Garcia-Patel, to pull out a 3-2 boys' soccer win over Stonington on Friday.

James Costa and Jamison Magawan gave the Bears (4-2-2) a 2-0 lead by halftime, but Dan Clark put the Falcons (3-4) on the board in the 60th minute.

Five minutes later, Meshama Charles tied the game, and Keshav-Patel came through in the 77th minute when he converted a direct kick. Charles and Keshav-Patel also had assists.

Weston Jacey had 11 saves for Fitch, which was outshot, 17-10. Adam Gibbs stopped five shots for Stonington. In other matches: • Daniel Castelpogg­i scored in the 64th minute to break a scoreless tie, and Colin Shannon added an insurance goal 13 minutes later to lift Waterford over East Lyme, 2-0, in the annual ALS Cup match at Dick North Stadium.

Goalie Glen Faber stopped four shots to earn the shutout for the Lancers (6-2-1), who outshot the Vikings, 15-6.

Ian Peitzsch collected eight saves in goal for East Lyme (4-3).

• Montville scored all three of its goals in the first half en route to a 3-1 road victory over New London. Noah Cook, Lucas Chaude and Gilbert Calash scored for the Indians (5-3), Jack Minas and Sean Murralo added assists and goalie Nik Strickland had two saves.

Luis Rodriguez, assisted by Cristian Pataquiva, scored for the Whalers (2-6) and goalie Giuseppe Conte stopped 10 shots.

• Bower Baker had nine saves but Wheeler fell to Lyman Memorial, 4-0, in an Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division III game. The Lions (2-5-1, 2-3-0) were outshot 13-9 as Kory Lazur scored all four goals for the Bulldogs.

• Tourtellot­te scored a second-half goal to tie St. Bernard, 1-1 in double overtime, in an ECC Division III match. Sean Crowe scored in the first half for the Saints (3-5, 3-3) and goalie Juan Uran made 10 saves.

• Darian Stanchina had a goal and an assist to lead Bacon Academy past Norwich Free Academy 3-0. Sam Pipicelli and Will Pipicelli also scored for the Bobcats, who led 2-0 at the half, while goalie Ryan Godino made six saves for the Wildcats (4-2).

• Ledyard's game against Woodstock Academy was postponed until Friday, Oct. 7, while Grasso Tech and Norwich Tech also had games postponed by rain.

Girls

• Rachel Marchini had three goals and an assist as Montville rolled to a 5-0 victory over Killingly in an ECC Division II match. Tiffany Evans and Alexis DeLucia also scored goals for the Indians (51-1, 3-1-1), while Jenna Banta, Kara Beaupre and Michaela MacCracken added assists.
