Matthew Bernier

Montville — Matthew Ryan Bernier, 25, of Depot Road, Uncasville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at home.

Matt was born May 19, 1991, in New London, the son of Bruce Bernier and Lynn-Ann (Benitez) Dockray. He was a 2009 graduate of Montville High School.

Matt was a family man who had the biggest heart. Matt and his beautiful smile could light up a room. He loved and cherished the time he spent with his family. If Matt’s death can save anyone struggling from drug abuse, his family begs you to seek the help that you need so this does not happen to you and your families and loved ones.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his beloved son, Damien Bernier; brother, Michael Bernier; sister, Rachel Bernier; nieces, Sophia Bernier and Aiyanna Arroyo; grandmother, Kathleen Benitez and grandparents, Leo and Rachel Bernier; and by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved Annabella.

He was also predeceased by his grandfather, Rudy Benitez.

Funeral services will be private for the family.
