East Lyme — Betty W. Lincoln, 88, of Niantic, wife of the late David Lincoln, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at Bayview Healthcare Center in Waterford.

She was born on April 25, 1928, in the Bronx, N.Y., the daughter of George John and Margaret (Weissflug) Willenbuch­er. She married David Lincoln on Jan. 19, 1957, in Christ Church in Bronxville, N.Y.

She was a graduate of Walton High School in the Bronx and Cornell University. She went on to earn a master’s degree in library science from the University of Michigan. She worked for Time magazine in New York City before moving to Summit, N.J. in 1959 to start a family. In 1985, she moved to Old Black Point with her husband, where they had spent many summers. She was employed for many years as a reference librarian at Waterford Public Library. She volunteere­d for many organizati­ons both, in Summit and locally, including serving on the Altar Guild at St. John’s Church in Niantic. Mrs. Lincoln enjoyed reading, cooking, playing Scrabble, playing croquet, and the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle.

She is survived by two sons, Jonathan G. Lincoln and his wife, Gina, of Niantic and Andrew D. Lincoln and his wife, Cheryl, of Waterford; and two grandchild­ren.

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 400 Main St., Niantic. Interment will be private. There are no calling hours.
