George Delap
Groton — George O. Delap, 99, of Groton, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruth W. Delap, who died in 2008.
George was born in Terryville, Conn., on Sept. 2, 1917, to Frederick and Eva (Gavin) Delap.
He and his wife raised their family in Bristol. He worked as a tool and die maker at Thomaston Special Tool in Thomaston for over 30 years, retiring in 1973. They then moved to the Groton shore, where they enjoyed a long and happy retirement. He was an active member of the Mystic Congregational Church.
He is survived by his two daughters, Barbara Norton of Massachusetts and Jane Laurencelle of North Carolina, as well as two grandchildren, Janet Norton and Brian Laurencelle, and one great-grandchild, Samantha Laurencelle.
A private graveside service will be held later in the fall at the family plot in West Cemetery, Plymouth, Conn.

The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic, is assisting the family.
