East Lyme — Everett “Tom” McLoughlin Jr. passed away Monday morning, Sept. 26, 2016, on what would have been his 63rd wedding anniversar­y, surrounded by his loving family in the home he built on Dean Road in East Lyme. He was predecease­d by his wife, Anne (Chapman) McLoughlin.

He was born Nov. 13, 1927, in New London, to Everett T. McLoughlin Sr. and Alta Gracey McLoughlin. Tom served his country during the Korean Conflict and in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1950 to 1954. He then worked for Pfizer as a foreman until he retired in 1984. He enjoyed many summers as a lifeguard at Ocean Beach Park in New London and was an avid golfer, chess and card player and passed these interests on to his children, grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

Tom and Anne were blessed with five children: Thomas and his wife, Barbara, Jeff and his wife, Suzanne, Peter, and Eileen Kosztala and her husband, Joe. He was predecease­d by a son, Michael. Also left to cherish his memory are nine grandchild­ren; Amy, Katie, Megan, Matthew, Lindsey, Danny, Amanda, Timmy and Olivia. Tom is also survived by great-grandchild­ren Isaiah and Mia; and is also survived by a friend and neighbor, Kathy Ramatowski.

At his request, services are private and there are no visiting hours.

Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London, is assisting with the arrangemen­ts.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons in his memory may be made to the Flanders Fire Department, 151 Boston Post Road, East Lyme, CT 06333.
