Flock stages ‘Long Day's Journey' at Monte Cristo Cottage
In April, Flock Theatre is presenting the first production of “Long Day's Journey into Night” to be performed in the Monte Cristo Cottage, the inspiration for the setting of Eugene O'Neill's autobiographical play.
The Monte Cristo Cottage, located at 325 Pequot Ave., New London, is where O'Neill spent his boyhood summers. "Long Day's Journey" is O'Neill's autobiographical exercise in forgiveness for his family as they battle addiction, illness and regret.
Flock has already added to its schedule a second of its special “Long Day's” performances where the scenes will be presented at times similar to those specified in the script; in addition to the previously announced April 22 date, Flock will now also stage it on April 29. The schedule: Act I at 9 a.m., Act II at 12:45 p.m., Act III at 7 p.m., and Act IV at 8 p.m. Tickets are $45.
Flock will also produce the drama on Saturdays and Sundays the rest of April, with the first half of the show starting at 3 p.m. and the second half at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35.
Seating is very limited, and reservations are required. Email flocktheatre@ hotmail.com or call (860) 443-3119.
The production is presented in cooperation with the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, which owns and operates the Monte Cristo Cottage as a museum open to the public.
