And is survived by her nephews and nieces from Fay: Jack Robinson of Old Lyme, Bob Robinson of Lebanon, Fay Wilkman of Old Lyme, Janet Robinson of Southington and Nancy Patterson of Uncasville; and her nephew from Jacob, Tom Shutsky of Pinnacle, N.C.; in addition, her eight grand-nieces, Alison, Jessica, Abbey, Paige, Ashley, Amber, Erica, and Calista; and three grand-nephews, Mark, Keegan and Cash.

Ida retired from Robertson Paper Box after working there for more than 30 years in quality control. She lived on a farm on Raymond Hill, gardening and caring for animals, including cows, chickens, cats, dogs and wild turkeys. Her hobbies included making doilies, crocheting, knitting, cooking and preserving food.

Ida never married but became the matriarchal figure of her extended family by hosting wonderful meals every Sunday and on all holidays. She was the glue whose love bonded her family together as a unit. Her character fused fierce rugged individualism with sincere, loving and heartfelt kindness.

She set a standard for all to follow. She will be sorely missed.
