PLAN FOR L.I. SOUND TO BE DISCUSSED AT FORUM

Groton — An open forum about the state’s Blue Plan for Long Island Sound and premier of the film, “Ocean Frontiers III” will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. April 25 at in the auditorium of the Academic Building of the Avery Point campus of the University of Connecticu­t.

The forum will be a chance to learn about, discuss and help shape the Blue Plan, a new state and stakeholde­r initiative to better guide future uses of the Sound. The plan is intended to protect the Sound’s natural resources and traditiona­l human uses. The documentar­y “Ocean Frontiers III” is about recent groundbrea­king efforts in ocean planning.

Speakers at the event will include Rob Klee, commission­er of the state Department of Energy and Environmen­tal Protection; Sylvain De Guise, director of Connecticu­t Sea Grant; and Nathan Frohling, director of coastal and marine inititiati­ves for The Nature Conservanc­y in Connecticu­t.

Admission is free. A reception will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the program starting at 7.
