Salgar helps Williams deep-six Knights

Girls' lacrosse team goes to 7-0 with win over Marianapol­is

New London — The Williams School girls' lacrosse team remained undefeated Wednesday with a 15-10 win over Marianapol­is Prep in an SENE game.

Sophie Salgar had six goals and an assist and Katia Bourganos had four goals for the Blues (7-0, 5-0). Williams freshman Audrey Matson had three goals and two assists, reaching the 100-point career mark.

Baseball

• Jordan Warecke threw a complete game, allowing three hits and striking out six, in Old Lyme 4-0 win over East Hampton in the Shoreline Conference. Robby Fusari's RBI jump-started a four-run fifth inning for the Wildcats (9-4) while Griffin Powers and Julian Muller had two hits apiece.

Boys' tennis

• East Lyme didn't drop a set en route to a 7-0 win over Fitch in an ECC Division I match. Eric Wu, Matei Coiculescu, Ashish Joshi and Sumeet Kadian won singles matches for the Vikings (9-0, 5-0).

• Stonington beat Waterford 5-2 in an ECC Division II match. Jake Stiger, Sean Bessette and Graham Johnstone won matches for Stonington (7-1, 4-0), as did the doubles teams of Kyle Remmert-Spencer Jones and Filip Aubrecht-Sam Snediker. Adam Pinch won at No. 2 singles and the James Zhu-Hugh Mugavero team doubles team won for Waterford (5-5, 2-2).

• Williams School fell to St. Andrew's 4-3. Jon Powell and Reese Berman won singles matches and Alexandros Tsipouras and Ben Fauerbach teamed up for a doubles win for Williams.

Girls' tennis

• Ledyard swept doubles play and beat St. Bernard 4-3. Cara Tran won at No. 4 singles for Ledyard (4-5) along with the teams of Stephanie Vetrano-Liz Martin, Sam Beacham-Jenna McHale and Tara Opalenik-Erin Healy. Michaela Abate, Wendy Bessette and Anna McKinley won matches for St. Bernard (5-2).

• Old Lyme beat Portland 7-0 in a Shoreline Conference match. Keelin Hurtt, Mackenzie Swaney, Brynn McGlinchey and Kellie Sablone won singles matches and the teams of Marissa Smith-Shannon Nosal, Maria Donato-Callie Kotzan and Sophie Warlitz-Emily O'Brien also won.

• Stonington remained unbeaten with a 6-1 win over Waterford. Gabby Dellacono, Charlotte Johnstone, Makenzie Sadler and Margot Goodman won singles matches for the Bears (8-0, 4-0) along with the doubles teams of Brielle Fratoni-Jaskiewicz/Hannah Middleton-Krancberg and Phoebe Townsend-Holly Foster. Tessa Dipollina and Margaret Lincoln won in doubles for Waterford (5-4, 2-2).

• Fitch swept singles play and beat East Lyme 6-1 in an ECC Division I match. Laura Krick, Samantha Cote, Kailey Sullivan and Jessica Cote won their matches for Fitch (7-2, 4-0) along with the teams of Jillian Leger-Nina Lupo and Emmy Powdrill-Charlina Holloway. Tanvi Dandekar and Lily Slemp won a doubles match for East Lyme (4-5, 3-2).

Boys' golf

• Jack Glenn of Stonington was the medalist as the Bears beat Wheeler 7-0. Glenn earned the honors with a 39, thanks to a birdie on the par-4 8th hole. Jack Ognisty, Will Cavaliere, Grant Hamilton and Steven Bovino also won their matches for the Bears (6-0).

• Old Lyme beat Morgan 167-187 in a Shoreline Conference match. Graham Aird of Old Lyme shared medalist honors with Morgan's Burton Caldwell with 40s. Mason Swaney (41), Matt McCarthy (42) and Peter Macadam (44) helped Old Lyme (7-1, 4-1) win.

• Killingly beat Fitch 7-0 to remain unbeaten. Fitch (2-3) beat St. Bernard 5-2 on Tuesday. Fitch's Colin Fahey was the medalist and teammates Ryan Sherman and Keegan Pierce also won their matches. Charlie Bresnahan, Nishant Patel, Sherman and Pierce won matches against Griswold.

• Bacon Academy's Cole Gustavsen was the medalist, firing a 45 in a 6.5-0.5 win over East Lyme at Chanticlai­r Golf Course. East Lyme's Evan Kluge halved his No. 1 match with Jake Guerra at 46.

• Putnam beat Grasso Tech in a CSC match 217-229. Hunter Brazee led Grasso with a 45.

• Montville lost to Woodstock on Tuesday 6-1. Chris Bouchard won his match for Montville (8-2).

Sailing

• Williams School won its second regatta of the season, beating Branford 3-0. Williams also lost 3-1 to Choate.

Gymnastics

• Taylor Churchill placed fifth overall at the Eastern National Level 9 Championsh­ips last weekend in Lansing, Mich. Churchill, who attends NFA and competes for Thames Valley Academy, scored 36.5. She was fifth in the balance beam at 9.05. Churchill will compete at the Senior High School Nationals later this month in Fort Myers, Fla.
