Large fight leads to arrests in New London
Four area men, two juveniles charged in connection with street brawl
New London — Police arrested four area men and two juveniles Thursday afternoon in connection with an incident that began with a brawl on Robinson Street and led to the intersection of Montauk and Willetts avenues, where video shows several officers had their weapons drawn.
According to police, multiple callers reported about 2:40 p.m. that a group of men was walking near Shaw and Robinson streets with sticks, bats and bottles. Callers said the men were suggesting they had assaulted or were going

Police said they observed 15 men fighting when they arrived at the scene. Upon seeing police, the involved men fled in multiple vehicles and on foot. Along the way, officers learned several of the men might be armed with firearms.
Near the intersection of Montauk and Willetts avenues, officers pulled over a red car they said matched the description of a suspect vehicle.
A video posted to Facebook on Thursday evening shows at least 10 New London police cruisers surrounded the red car. Multiple officers stationed strategically had their guns trained on the vehicle. Outside the car, a male stood with his arms in the air. Inside, two others sat with their arms out the window.

The video continues to roll as police arrest the three males and begin to search the vehicle.
According to police, they arrested three men and one juvenile who had been in the car. A search of the vehicle yielded a large knife, police said.
Police said they located and arrested two more males — one an adult, one a juvenile — after extensively searching the area. The two males, they said, had fled on foot.
Police said they have not learned of any injuries resulting from the altercation.
Arrested in connection with the incident were:
Mario Vargas, 19, of 117 Willetts Ave. was charged with breach of peace and possession of a dangerous weapon.
Marvens Medena, 20, of 14 Carter Ave., Norwich, was charged with breach of peace and interfering with an officer.
Khijiemh Miler, 19, of 64 White Plains Road, Norwich, was charged with breach of peace.
Kenny Noel, 18, of 25 Maennerchor Ave., Taftville, was charged with breach of peace.
The two arrested juveniles also were charged with breach of peace.
