He also made the first team as did teammate Tim Cate, a pitcher. Pitcher Wills Montgomerie, shortstop Anthony Prato, third baseman Willy Yahn and reliever John Russell made the second team. Russell, who led the AAC in saves with a program-record 14, played at UConn Avery Point before moving on to Storrs. UConn, the third seed, begins AAC tournament play against sixth-seeded Cincinnati on Tuesday afternoon in Clearwater, Fla. The Huskies are the defending champions. • Central Connecticut State University freshmen Buddy Dewaine and TT Bowens, two former Montville teammates, will be back in southeastern Connecticut this week playing in the Northeast Conference Championship tournament at Dodd Stadium in Norwich. Shields graduated on Sunday. • For the third straight season, The College of New Jersey's Elizabeth Morrison of Stonington has received Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association All-American First Team honors. She helps anchor the nation's top scoring defense in Division III, allowing just 3.05 goals per game. Morrison had a team-best five ground balls and five caused turnovers in an 8-4 win over defending national champion Middlebury on Sunday in the NCAA Regional final. She will play in the national semifinals on Saturday, as No. 1 TCNJ (181) faces Washington and Lee University in Salem, Va. • Old Lyme's Hanna De Bruyn, a junior member of the Bates College rowing team, earned All-NESCAC academic honors.
