Roger Chericoni
Groton Long Point — Roger Chericoni, 77, of Groton Long Point and Bradenton, Fla., passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 29, 2017, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.
He was predeceased by his parents, Umberto and Martha (Meich) Chericoni.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Presti) Chericoni, his daughters, Susan Chericoni MacClain (Thomas Underwood) and Tina Chericoni Versaci (Hon. Vincent Versaci), and three grandchildren, Caroline, Rosemarie and Michael Versaci. He also leaves his devoted sisters-in-law, Rosemarie Castellitto and Theresa Caracappa and her husband, James, along with many loving nieces and nephews, as well as his cousins, Linda and Elda Chericoni of Livorno, Italy.
Roger was a graduate of both Fairleigh Dickinson University and the University of Connecticut. He worked for Pratt Whitney in East Hartford his entire career, retiring in 1999 as senior vice president in charge of quality.
After his retirement, he moved to Groton Long Point where he became an active member of the Groton Long Point Association, serving in many capacities including vice president, treasurer and director of public safety.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton, followed by a reception at St. Edmund’s Retreat on Enders Island in Mystic.
A private burial will follow at the convenience of the family in Hoboken, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Masonicare of Mystic, the Falcone Healing Garden at the Yale New Haven Smilow Cancer Center in Waterford, or to St. Edmund’s Retreat in Mystic.
The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic, is assisting the family.
