Lois McLevy
Brooklyn — Lois E. (Grieger) McLevy, born July 18, 1922, daughter of Thomas and Ethel (Hanford) Grieger was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017. Lois was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. McLevy Sr. in 1984.
Her family and friends benefited from her caring nature, always putting others’ needs and concerns before her own. She was born and lived in Fairfield for 73 years, then moved to Sterling and finally Creamery Brook Senior Community in Brooklyn. Her life included traveling from her parents’ farm to work as a professional artist in New York City.
She returned to work in the Fairfield building department during World War II and met and married her husband, Robert, in 1948. Their mutual love and devotion included raising two sons, Robert Jr. and Roy and contributed to their marriages (Robert to Susan and Roy to Diane), resulting in five grandchildren, Jill (Shamback), Jason, Alan, Ian and Colin; and four great-grandchildren, Charlie, Emily, Weston and Lorelei.
She adored her grandchildren and was joyful in supporting and spoiling them with delicious food and shopping trips at any opportunity. At the same time, she instilled common sense and confidence as they matured. Writing poetry, growing flowers and her artistic talents helped to foster love throughout her life.
Her wishes were for a quiet, graveside family funeral. May God Bless Her!
