75 SAILORS GRADUATE FROM BASIC ENLISTED SUBMARINE SCHOOL
Groton — Seventy-five Sailors of Class 17460, USS Thomas Edison, graduated from Basic Enlisted Submarine School on Oct. 13.
Seaman Recruit Michael Goldman was class honor graduate and continues in apprentice team training.
Seaman Michael Kloos was recipient of the Navy Core Values Award.
Electronics Technician Nuclear Power 3rd Class Marcus Nativida received the Submarine Heritage Award.
Seaman Recruit Ricardo Chavez, Seaman Phillip Plunkard, Seaman Recruit Joshua Wentworth, Machinists Mate Nuclear Power 3rd Class Stephen Cason, Seaman Apprentice Sara Smith, Fireman Apprentice Matthew Kunzik, Fireman Recruit Tyler Schultz, Seaman Apprentice Austin McManaway, Seaman Nathan Burgoyne, Seaman Skylar Carman, Seaman Recruit Christopher Muller, Seaman Apprentice Nicholas Moses, Fireman Apprentice Curtis Baack, Seaman Romeo Medrano, Seaman Recruit Nathaniel Benton, Fireman Recruit Mark Reyno, and Seaman Apprentice Lucas Palmon were graduates with distinction.
Basic Enlisted Submarine School is a six-week introduction to the basic theory, construction and operation of nuclear powered submarines.
In preparation for an assignment, sailors receive instruction on shipboard organization, submarine safety and escape procedures.
