RCDA SPONSORS COMMUNITY DINNER

The Board of Directors of Renaissance City Development Association is sponsoring Brigaid’s Community Dinner at the Bennie Dover Jackson School from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25.

The cost is $5 per person for the chicken dinner, but higher donations will be accepted. Questions should be directed to Samantha Wilson, director of food services for New London Public Schools, at WilsonS@ newlondon.org or (860) 4476064.

“The Wednesday night dinners give all of us the opportunity to see what an amazing job Brigaid is doing,” said Charles Hanley, an RCDA board member and Atlantic Broadband’s vice president and general manager in Connecticut. Atlantic Broadband is a dinner sponsor.

It is the second school-based project that RCDA has initiated to help support the city’s Child Nutrition Program and Brigaid, the school system’s inhouse culinary company.

Brigaid’s company mission is “to serve real food, cooked with care and passion by a chef whose full-time job is to work in the schools.” Each day, Brigaid chefs serve 3,300 students in the New London Public School System. Brigaid empowers students to grow food, eat well and lead a healthy life. Nov. 7 municipal election. The exception will be for those turning 18 after the Oct. 31 deadline, anyone who has moved into the city after that date and those who become citizens after the deadline. Those people and military personnel can register until 5 p.m. on Nov. 7.

Anyone with questions should contact the Registrar of Voters office at (860) 447-5206. “The Good Web: How to Use Social Media in a Positive Way” and “Applying Critical Thinking Skills to Social Media.” The workshop is open to students from area middle and high schools, homeschool students, parents, educators and community leaders.
