Mystic — Virginia “Ginny” Mae Jacobson, 87, of 76 Hillside Drive in Mystic, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018.

Ginny, as she was known by most, was born on April 18, 1930, the daughter of the late Wilbur L. and Ann A. (Smith) Kirkpatric­k.

Ginny, was a 1948 graduate of Briarcliff High School in Briarcliff, N.Y., and a graduate of The Berkley Secretaria­l and Business School in White Plains, N.Y. She was employed by GMAC before raising her family.

In 1950, Ginny married Arvid W. Jacobson of Pleasantvi­lle, N.Y. She was predecease­d by her husband after 53 years of marriage in 2003. They were the parents of six children. A son, Carl Robert Jacobson predecease­d them in 1955.

Virginia is survived by her five children, Christina (Steve) Snider, Cindy (John) Roberts, Eric Jacobson, Nancy (Dan) Dinovelli and Pat (Michael) Russo. “Gram” also is survived by 12 grandchild­ren, Tim Mayersohn, Amanda Mayersohn, Jamie Snider, Heather Barksdale, Rachel Snider, Ashley Arvidson, Nicole Russo, Richard Roberts, Matthew Russo, Ben Dinovelli, Sarah Dinovelli and Joseph Russo. She also leaves six great-grandchild­ren, Alyssa, Brandon, Jacob, Landon, Madison and Kennedy. Ginny leaves her two wonderful brothers-in-law, Dale and Don Jacobson; along with her dear nieces, Susan Mattson and Ann Butera.

She was predecease­d by her brother, Robert Kirkpatric­k; and leaves her nephews, Donald and Douglas.

With a very special love and deep affection, Virginia leaves Dale Arnold to cherish the memories of their time spent together.

Ginny was a communican­t of St. Luke Lutheran Church and volunteere­d her time with numerous church events. She found great joy being a Sunday service greeter and being part of the church family. All enjoyed her homemade Swedish almond bread and cookies.

There will be calling hours from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, immediatel­y followed by a celebratio­n of life service. Both will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Gales Ferry. Burial will be private at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Virginia’s memory may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1830 Route 12, Gales Ferry, CT 06335.
